Check the monthly e-mail for contact information for each event.

This month’s Young Souls Social Justice Digest is being brought to you by the REEB VOTING RIGHTS PROJECT.

For an overview of what the Reeb project is and our church’s history with voting rights, please feel free to check out http://www.all-souls.org/voting-rights.

We encourage all YS to double check that you are registered to vote!  Here is a video, shared by YS Alice Goldberg, of how to register to vote in every state: https://www.youtube.com/c/howtovoteineverystate.

Thank you to all those who have attended Justice For #TerrenceSterling protests in DC and those who continue to stand for justice here in DC.

10/7 – 10/9 – Reeb Trip to North Carolina

A Young Souls contingent is going to Raleigh and Durham with the All Souls Reeb Project to register suppressed communities to vote! The bus leaves at noon from All Souls on Friday the 5th and will return Sunday. Young Souls will all be stationed in Raleigh and will have an evening party on Saturday with the young adult group from the UU Fellowship of Raleigh. Most importantly, we will be doing the extremely important work of registering people to vote in a state that has shown relentless commitment to voter suppression in communities of color. Registration for this event has closed.

10/15 – It Takes a Nation – Art, Coffee, and Discussion

American University is having a showcase of art about systemic racism titled “It Takes a Nation: Art for Social Justice.” We will organize rides to get to the exhibition when it opens at 11am and after the experience, have a dialogue about it. Entry to the exhibition is free. We will carpool over from the church, meeting at 10:30am. If you are getting a ride, please prepare to help your driver pay for parking ($2/hour). Once we know how many people are coming, we will decide who can drive the group over. This event is meant to be an intersection of our Social Justice and Spiritual work as Unitarian Universalists while providing a safe social space for productive and reflective dialogue. https://www.facebook.com/events/1736114099984478/.  Questions?  Contact YS Social Chair Alice.
