Sunday, Nov. 6th, 2pm – 4pm – Green Souls Boat Tour of the Anacostia 

Led by experts from the Anacostia Watershed Society, a leading partner in the program to make the Anacostia swimmable by 2025. The tour will leave from DC Pumphouse (1402 1st St SE, DC; Navy Yard). Please plan to arrive by 1:45 at the Pumphouse. There is no cost to attend. RSVP here:

Saturday, Nov. 12th10am – 1pm, Haiti NGO Committee Meeting at All Souls

The ASC Haitian NGOs Empowerment Committee is an ASC Social Justice Program with international focus for ASC efforts. Given its troubled history as an independent nation, established 200 years ago by a slave rebellion against the French colonists, and its current status as the poorest country in the Western Hemispher, ASC and the UUSC have made a long-term commitment to working in Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake.  For more information please visit:

Saturday, Nov. 19th, 2pm – 3:30pm – Power to the People: Community Land Trusts & Anacostia

A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a powerful and flexible tool to create affordable housing while allowing residents to build equity as homeowners. Learn the nuts and bolts of how CLTs work from a board member of Grounded Solutions Network (formerly National Community Land Trust Network). Following the presentation, a panel of respondents will discuss developing a Community Land Trust around the future 11th Street Bridge Park. Location: Anacostia Arts Center (1231 Good Hope Road SE).


Sunday, Nov. 20th, All Souls’ Neighbors-In-Need Food and Fund Drive at All Souls

On the Sunday before Thanksgiving we make our annual offering of food and funds. Help raise money for All Souls’ social justice programs and collect food for 500 families in need. There are 3 ways to help: 1. Bring food items to donate with you to All Souls on Nov. 20th (a specific list will be sent out by All Souls closer to the date). 2. Make a financial contribution during a special Nov. 20th offering 3. Volunteer to help with the food drive on Nov. 20th. Stay tuned for more announcements.

Come join the YS Social Justice Task Force for a discussion of upcoming social justice events at the church and in our area. We’ll be meeting at All Souls.
