Saturday, August 12th, 10:00am – Young Souls Rock Creek Park Meditative Walk
Come out on a Saturday morning to enjoy a Meditative Walk in beautiful Rock Creek Park. Not many people know about or get to enjoy this massive green space in the heart of our city. We will be intentionally walking through the woods as a way to provide ourselves a little bit of refocus from the busy city atmosphere of DC. The hike will start at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium, and will end at the National Zoo. Because of the slow walking pace, expect two and a half to three hours out on the trails. Location: Meet at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium at 10:00 AM. The address is: 5200 Glover Rd NW, Washington, DC 20015. The center is accessible via Metrobus Line E4, or feel free to drive (although you will need to hike/bus/Lyft/Uber back on your own to retrieve your car). RSVP on Facebook here. Questions? Contact Nick Ford.

I’m sure you’ve heard someone ask, or maybe thought to yourself: “We’re Unitarian Universalists. So what exactly do we believe?” I’ve wondered many times about the fact that all us all hold usually different beliefs, so what is it that brings us together to worship under one roof on Sundays?
I believe one underlying foundation for our community of faith are the Seven Principles written into the bylaws of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Rev. Barbara Wells ten Hove explains, “The Principles are not dogma or doctrine, but rather a guide for those of us who choose to join and participate in Unitarian Universalist religious communities.”
So… Let’s talk about them! We’ll be starting with Number 1: “The inherent worth and dignity of every person.” The inaugural Young Souls 7 Principles Discussion Group is happening next Wednesday in Meridian Hill Park; meet at the Joan of Arc statue at 6:30 PM. Feel free to bring snacks, and we’ll dig into some deep conversations about the first principle. RSVP on Facebook here. Or simply send me an email back saying who you are and if you’re coming. This will help determine how l the amount of blankets and snacks to bring.
Thanks all, and I’ll look forward to seeing you there!
