Young Souls Identity Group Caucuses – Join a Caucus!

A caucus is a safe space where individuals can strategize and work/socialize with their own racial/ethnic/identity group. Some groups focus on individual development; others on taking action; and several that do a combination. If you are interested in starting a caucus, participating in one, or have questions please email Alice Kurima Newberry. NOTE: a women’s caucus, mental health caucus, and people of color caucus have some people interested already! BONUS: there are a few up and coming things to mark your calendars for such as the caucus groups. You can read the SJTF Newsletter here.

Young Souls March Circle Suppers – Looking for Hosts!

Friday, January 26th, 6:45pm The Last Jedi with Souls in the Center Movie Club

Friends – We at Souls in the Center are starting a movie club for those who are interested in watching a show in a theater, and then having a quick drink or snack or coffee to discuss it (sort of like book club, but without… books). Join this separate listserv here for movie announcements only. Anyone can: Choose a movie, time and place, and scope a nearby place to grab a quick something and have a quick conversation (honestly my favorite part!). Be sure to find the link for those interested to buy the tickets, and you are on! After joining the listserv above, send the plan to and/or put on our Facebook page. Over the next month or two, we will be throwing out a few movies clustered around the Oscar nominations and any other interesting films. Feel free to do the same, especially since everyone’s schedule is so hectic it may take a few times for something to work for a movie you would like to see. We’ll  aim for Thursday evenings, Friday evenings and Saturday early-ish times, as schedules, lives permit. This Friday, join me, the last person in the galaxy who hasn’t yet, to watch The Last Jedi. We’ll be catching the 6:45pm show at Atlantic Plumbing on Friday, Jan 26. If there is energy, we’ll head to Hazel for a quick drink after to talk about the movie or just unwind about your week. See you there! Let SITC’s Pooja know any questions or thoughts. We’d love for Young Souls to join too!

On Wednesday, February 21st, we will cover the 6th principle: “The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all” Snacks and, friendship will be provided. Saturday, February 24, 5pm – 8pm – Young Souls and Souls in the Center Have Wine and Cheese

Join us for what will be a fun joint event. This is a great way for Young Souls to meet others in Souls in the Center! Here’s the idea for how this works: everyone brings a bottle of wine and/or cheese/crackers/other appetizer. Non-alcoholic wines or juices in wine-like bottles are fair game. Leave price tag on wine or add one. Wines will be classified in a few groups based on what shows up (by grape, origin, or something), with each group on a different table along with small cups. Wines get covered with paper bags and numbered. Everyone samples and rates as many wines as desired, using an online poll. After an hour or two, we reveal the wines and their collective ratings. RSVP on Facebook here or here in our trusty google doc. Hosted by Katrina & Nabil at their home. Location: Check the listserv for address. Click here for more info about Souls in the Center. Questions? Contact Bruce.

We are meeting for a second time on the weekend for the Young Souls UU Principles Discussion Group! The event will start around 7:00 in the evening and will be a potluck style dinner and conversation about Unitarian Universalist core beliefs. For this meeting we will focus on the Fourth Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. RSVP on Facebook here. Location: Check the listserv for address.
