Monday, April 15th, 7:00 – 9:00 – Many Voices Reading Group
Each month, the Many Voices Reading Group discusses a short story, and during April we’ll talk about Nick White’s “Lady Tiger.” White writes lovely Southern gothic stories, often about queer men in the South. On one level, “Lady Tiger” is about Rusty and his crush on a high school softball team’s new coach, who quotes Shakespeare and loves tofu. But it’s also about how Rusty, and others on the team, are dealing with what happened before the story began: Rusty’s father abandoning Rusty and acting inappropriately with a team member.
The story is available here and an audio version is available from Audible. Please RSVP here or by email to Neil, just so we have a sense of how many people are coming. We’ll meet at Neil’s place. Feel free (but not obligated) to bring snacks/drinks, and newcomers are always welcome!
Sunday, April 28th, 1:00 pm – Young Souls April Brunch
We will meet in Pierce Hall and walk to a nearby restaurant. Brunch is an excellent event to attend if you are new. RSVP on Facebook here. Questions? Contact Cora.
Invitation to join the Young Souls POC Caucus
The YS POC Caucus was founded early in 2018, in recognition of the need for a Young Soul POC space. They are currently opening the group to new YS POC members! The caucus is a chance for people of color in our community to gather for fun activities (dinner parties, game nights, book circles etc.) or more serious conversations (discussions on making All Souls an inclusive and affirming space etc.). If you are interested in joining, fill out this form and a member of the caucus will reach out to you. Please feel free to email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Alice Newberry, a founding member of the caucus and former YS Social Justice Chair, if you have any questions!
