REGISTER HERE for Young Souls Winter Escape

There is one week left to register for Young Souls 2024 Winter Escape! Deadline January 5th!

This Presidents’ Day Weekend (February 16-19, 2023), we’ll gather at the beautiful Shenandoah River State Park in Virginia. Winter Escape is an annual 4 day / 3 night getaway for UU young adults (ages 18-35+) in the DC/MD/VA area, organized by Young Souls.

This is an opportunity to relax in nature, make new friends, and deepen old friendships. There’ll be workshops, games, music, worship, and more! More details about the retreat can be found in the registration form.

Winter Escape will be a long weekend full of connection, growth, and fun. We hope you’ll join us! If you have any questions, feel free to send me or the Young Souls Board an email.

January 2024 Events

Playback Theater at ASC: Community Storytelling Forum – Saturday, January 6th from 10:30 AM- 12:30 PM

Multi-generational event for adults, youth, and children, 7 years or older.

In Playback Theater, the audience is invited to tell stories about their lives: memories, dreams, tragedies and joys. The skilled actors from Verbal Gymnastics will improvise theater pieces on the spot, with a live musical component. The result is reflection and creative space for deeper understanding transformation. This forum will also tie into themes for worship services on January 7 and beyond.

“Swept Away” at Arena Stage – Saturday, January 6 at 2pm

Join YS at the (rumored-to-be) Broadway-bound new musical “Swept Away”. After the show, grab a beverage at Colada Shop on the Wharf as we discuss the show. Buy your ticket in advance (https://tickets.arenastage.org/events/34808) and be sure to use promo code UNDER30 if you are 30 years or younger!

Description from Arena Stage: When a violent storm sinks their whaling ship off the coast of New Bedford, Mass., the four survivors face a reckoning: how far will they go to stay alive? And can they live with the consequences? With music and lyrics from The Avett Brothers, Swept Away is an electrifying, soul-stirring new musical exploring how facing tragedy can open the door to forgiveness…if only we’ll let it.

(Folks attending Playback Theatre: we can transit together to Arena Stage from All Souls).

Join us for a Fellowship and Discussion Circle at Owen’s home in Pleasant Plains for a place to open up. Snacks will be provided but feel free to bring your own as well! People who RSVP will receive the address on the Sunday before the event.
