May 2024 Events
Monthly Post-Service Brunch at Wonderland Ballroom – Sunday, May 5th at 11:45 AM
Get together for brunch at Wonderland Ballroom after service! Meet on the steps outside the sanctuary at All Souls after service and walk over together.
UU the Vote Phone Bank – Sunday, May 5th at 5:30 PM
Young Souls will gather together in-person and join UU the Vote and Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR) as we contact voters in Georgia to get out the vote for the May 21 Primary Election.
Happy Hour – Wednesday, May 8th at 5:30 PM
Join us for a happy hour ahead of All Souls’ monthly candlelit, music-filled Vespers service. 🎶🕯🎶
Arrive at Wonderland Ballroom at 5:30 or whenever you can, and we’ll walk to the church together for the 7:30pm service. Happy Hour at Wonderland Ballroom lasts until 6:30pm.
Potluck & Bonfire – Saturday, May 11th at 6:30 PM
Potlucks are a great opportunity for newcomers and longtime members alike to gather so please come on out, bring a dish or drink, and have a great time with fellow young souls. If there is interest, we can hold a moment of reflection and sharing, as well.
Exact address sent to participants prior to potluck – Potluck is in Kate’s yard in Fort Totten/NE Petworth, a block from the 64 bus stop and a 10 minute walk from the Fort Totten metro with the Green and Red lines. Bathrooms inside are only accessible via going up or down some stairs.
Hike and Meditation in Rock Creek Park – Sunday, May 12 at 11:45 AM
Celebrate the coming of Spring and warm weather and engage in the practice of meditation with the Young Souls in a hike through beautiful Rock Creek Park after the May 12 church service! Meet on the steps outside the main doors to the All Souls sanctuary after the service! Bring comfortable hiking clothes, water, and sunscreen. We will engage in the active mindfulness practice of meditation as well as the more passive but no less valuable mindfulness practice of being in nature with friends!
Fellowship and Discussion Group – Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 PM
Building on themes from previous discussions around the challenges of modern American society, this conversation seeks to explore the alternative systems and cultures that could be created to help ensure a positive future. We often know what we don’t want, but how can we envision and live what we aspire for in the Beloved Community? Come for a friendly discussion on how we want the future to look. Snacks to share are appreciated!
Volunteering with Food Justice DMV – Thursday, May 23rd from 5:45pm-8:00 PM
Young Souls will have a regular volunteering slot on fourth Thursdays with Food Justice DMV! Join us as we pack boxes of food and essentials and help load fresh produce for our asylum-seeking and undocumented neighbors.
Drinks at All Souls Bar! – Wednesday, May 29th at 6:00pm
Come hang with Young Souls at the only bar in DC named after our church! Our first visit to All Souls Bar was such a success that we’re holding a second rendition! If you’re new (or newish) to our community, this gathering is a great chance to get to know folks!
