Hello Young Souls,

Check out our fun Young Souls events coming up in November below. We have our usual first Sunday brunch (but the second Sunday due to our Retreat) and Happy Hour before Vespers, as well as other activities! Please respond to our survey by the end of the month!

Young Souls COMMUNITY SURVEY

Young Souls wants to fulfill its commitment to the Fifth Principle of Unitarian Universalism and therefore wants to hear your inputs on what you expect out of the community, what Young Souls has done well in the past, where there are areas for improvement, and your hopes and goals for the community during this Board’s current tenure! Please take just five minutes to fill out our Community Survey by December 1st so that the Young Souls Board can better serve you this year! The more folks we hear from the better!

Happy Hour – Wednesday, November 8th at 5:30 PM

Join us for a happy hour ahead of All Souls’ monthly candlelit, music-filled Vespers service. 🎶🕯🎶

Arrive at Wonderland Ballroom at 5:30 or whenever you can, and we’ll walk to the church together for the 7:30pm service. Happy Hour at Wonderland Ballroom lasts until 6:30pm.

Drumming Out Loud – Drumming and Mindfulness with Fred Katz – Wednesday, November 15th from 7:00 – 9:00 PM

Use mindfulness to unlock your creativity while learning to improvise over West African polyrhythms and drawing lessons from Buddhist philosophy. In this fun and supportive drum circle workshop, we’ll explore how to use mindfulness to expand your senses, more easily experience flow, and develop greater self-confidence for playing grooves and improvising. Along the way, you’ll experience a greater sense of joy and connectedness. Beginners are more than welcome! Bring yourself, an open mindset, and a drum if you have one. Drums will also be provided. Suggested donation: $20.

Fred Katz studied jazz drumming at Berklee College of Music. He is a drummer, vocalist, recording engineer, and music educator who has been leading drumming with mindfulness workshops since 2016.  He plays in the Akoma@All Souls drumming ensemble and sings in the All Souls Choir. For more information or to contact Fred, visit www.drummingoutloud.com.

Volunteering with Food Justice DMV – Thursday, November 30th from 5:45pm-8:00pm

Young Souls will have a regular volunteering slot on fourth Thursdays with Food Justice DMV! This month will be November 30th due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Join us as we pack boxes of food and essentials and help load fresh produce for our asylum-seeking and undocumented neighbors.
